A real commission
“Something Blue”
Every commission begins with a story.
A client got in touch because she wanted to give a very special gift to a friend who was about to get married. Her idea was to create the something blue — that small tradition that accompanies so many brides as a symbol of love, fidelity and good wishes.
From that conversation, I developed several proposals until we found a piece that conveyed the delicacy and meaning we were looking for. The result was this small porcelain heart, glazed in cobalt blue and fired at high temperature — a colour chosen precisely for its link to the tradition.
So that the bride could wear the gift on her wedding day, the pendant was mounted on a gold-plated safety pin, designed to fasten discreetly to the dress and accompany her through one of the most important moments of her life.
It is one of those projects that remind me why I enjoy made-to-order work so much: each piece is born from a unique story and is made to become part of another.
