Turning memory into matter

OMA was born after I moved to Barcelona. Starting over in another country awakened a deep question in me: what do we truly carry with us when we leave a place behind? I discovered it was not just objects — it was memories, affections and stories.

That was when I began studying jewellery, looking for a way to turn those memories into something that could be touched. Then I found porcelain. It was an immediate encounter: delicate yet extremely resistant, demanding time, care and precision. Since then, porcelain has been the language through which I tell stories.

Every OMA piece is shaped by hand and grows out of my research into memory, absence, belonging and identity. Much of what I create is inspired by my family’s recollections, the women who came before me, the objects that cross generations, and the small everyday delicacies that so often go unnoticed.

"Oma" means grandmother in German. I chose the name because it captures exactly the universe I wanted to create: a place where memory, affection, delicacy and time hold value. I have always been moved by stories that travel across generations, and by the things that stay alive even when the people are gone.

That is what OMA is to me: the possibility of creating objects that cross time, just like the stories that shape us.
